Terms of Service
Last updated: July 25, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using Corvault (the Service), you accept these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
These Terms apply to all users, including individuals and organizations that create accounts, upload files, or access shared content.
2. Service Description
Corvault is a secure file sharing and collaboration platform that provides:
- File storage and sharing with strong encryption.
- Two encryption modes: End-to-End and Server-Side.
- Role-based access control for company workspaces.
- Shareable links with expiry and download limits.
- Cross-platform applications for desktop, mobile, and web.
- Audit logs, support, and account security controls.
3. User Responsibilities
When using Corvault, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete registration information.
- Maintain the security of your credentials.
- Use strong passwords and available security controls.
- Notify us promptly about unauthorized access.
- Comply with applicable laws and regulations.
- Respect third-party rights and intellectual property.
4. Prohibited Uses
You may not use Corvault to:
- Upload or share illegal content or content that violates third-party rights.
- Distribute malware, viruses, or malicious code.
- Disrupt or interfere with the Service.
- Attempt unauthorized access to other accounts or files.
- Spam, harass, or harm others.
- Resell or redistribute the Service without authorization.
5. Reporting Illegal Content
Anyone — user or not — can notify us of content stored on Corvault that they consider illegal. Use the reporting form or write to abuse@corvault.net.
How we handle a report:
- We confirm receipt without undue delay and review the report diligently, objectively, and without automated decision-making.
- If we restrict, remove, or disable access to content, or suspend an account, we give the affected user a statement of reasons explaining what we did and why, and how to contest it.
- End-to-end encrypted files are unreadable to us. For those we can act on the account and the share link, not on the file contents.
- If we become aware of information suggesting a criminal offence involving a threat to life or safety, we will inform the competent authorities.
Single point of contact for users and for authorities: abuse@corvault.net (English and Italian).
6. Data Ownership and Encryption
You own your data. Corvault does not claim ownership of files, content, or data you upload to the Service.
End-to-End Encryption
Encrypted on your device before upload. Corvault cannot decrypt or read those files.
If you lose your encryption keys, we cannot recover E2E files.
Server-Side Encryption
Encrypted after upload using platform-managed keys. Supports controlled sharing and operational processing.
7. Payment Terms
- Subscriptions are billed monthly or yearly through Stripe.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before renewal.
- We may update pricing with prior notice where required.
- All prices are in euro and are the total amount payable. No VAT is applied: Corvault operates under the Italian flat-rate regime (art. 1, paragraphs 54–89, Law 190/2014). If you are a business in another EU country, the reverse-charge mechanism applies and you account for VAT yourself.
- Before checkout we show you the exact amount, the date of the first charge, and how often it recurs. Nothing is charged during the 30-day free trial, and you can cancel before it ends at no cost.
8. Right of Withdrawal (Consumers)
If you are a consumer — a natural person acting outside your trade, business, craft, or profession — you have 14 days from the conclusion of the contract to withdraw, without giving any reason and without penalty.
To withdraw, send us an unambiguous statement — email to legal@corvault.net is enough. You can use the model withdrawal form, but you are not obliged to. Sending your notice before the 14 days expire is sufficient.
Immediate start and what it means
At checkout you expressly ask us to start providing the service immediately. If you then withdraw within the 14 days, you owe an amount proportionate to what was supplied up to that point — and once the service has been fully performed, the right of withdrawal is exhausted. During the free trial nothing has been charged, so withdrawing costs you nothing.
We refund any amount due within 14 days of receiving your withdrawal notice, using the same payment method you used, at no cost to you.
This section applies to consumers only. Business customers are governed by the cancellation terms in section 9.
9. Refunds and Cancellation
- You can cancel at any time from your billing settings. Cancellation stops the next renewal; it does not end the period you have already paid for, and you keep access until that period runs out.
- Annual plans: if you cancel mid-term, we refund the unused whole months on a pro-rata basis.
- Monthly plans: the current month is not refunded, and no further charges are made.
- If the Service does not work as described, you are entitled to have it brought into conformity, or to a price reduction or refund, under the statutory guarantee for digital services. That right is free of charge and is in addition to anything in this section.
- Refunds are issued to the original payment method. Refund requests: legal@corvault.net.
10. Service Availability and Limits
We aim for a reliable service, but uninterrupted access cannot be guaranteed. For business customers the Service is provided as-is, without warranties beyond those expressly given here.
If you are a consumer, none of this affects the statutory guarantee that the Service matches its description and works as it should. Those rights cannot be waived and are unaffected by anything in these Terms.
- Scheduled and emergency maintenance may occur.
- Capacity limits tied to your plan are enforced.
- Features may change as the product evolves.
11. Termination
You may cancel your account according to your plan and billing settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, fail payment obligations, or create security risk.
12. Limitation of Liability
For business customers, and to the maximum extent permitted by law, Corvault and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, loss of data, or loss of business opportunity arising from use of the Service. For those customers our total liability in any 12-month period is capped at the fees you paid us in that period.
What we never exclude:
- Death or personal injury caused by our acts or omissions.
- Wilful misconduct or gross negligence — any clause excluding these in advance is void (art. 1229 Italian Civil Code).
- For consumers: the statutory guarantee of conformity, the right of withdrawal, and any other right that cannot be waived by contract. Nothing in these Terms limits them.
- Liability arising from our processing of personal data under applicable data-protection law.
13. Data Backup and Recovery
While we operate backups of platform systems, you remain responsible for retaining copies of your important files and protecting your encryption keys and credentials.
14. Dispute Resolution
You agree to contact us first for informal resolution. If that fails, disputes may be handled under the applicable process required by law and contract.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect product, legal, or business changes. Material changes will be communicated before taking effect where required.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by Italian law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings before the court where you are domiciled. We will only sue you before that same court.
For business customers, the courts of Italy have exclusive jurisdiction.
